JOB POSTING: Meter Tech – Town of Haughton

As a Meter Tech, you will be crucial in accurately recording and collecting data from various utility meters.  Your primary responsibility will be to visit residential and commercial properties to read and record meter readings for water consumption and complete daily work orders.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular visits to assigned locations to read water meters accurately.
• Complete daily work orders given in the morning, and turn them in to the front desk in the evening at the end of the day.
• Record meter readings using handheld devices or manual methods.
• Ensure the safety of yourself and others while accessing meters in various locations.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding access requirements and any potential disruptions.
• Identify and report any irregularities or abnormalities in meter readings.
• Troubleshooting meter-related issues, such as faulty equipment or damaged meters.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent qualifications.
• Previous experience as a meter reader is preferred but not essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately record numerical data.
• Strong organizational skills to manage assigned routes efficiently.
• Physical fitness and ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, and carry equipment as necessary.
• Valid driver’s license.
